Crocodile beauty box
Crocodile beauty box
“This crocodile skin box containing a hairbrush, a hand mirror and a tiny mirror and some “glove stretchers” is lined in the inside with silk…I believe it was given to my great aunt Ellen (or Nellie, I am unsure what her name was). She was always very fashionably dressed and had very fancy dresses, probably 1920’s styles. She was born in the late 1800’s and one of her jobs was as a waitress at “Lyons tea shop” in the centre of London. She wore a little black dress and a starched white cap and apron. It was a very posh establishment! She gave me this when I was quite young as I admired the box. If she told me its story, I don’t remember…it would be interesting to find out more about it!”
