Harry Hields
HARRY HIELDS
Chief Engineer at Gipton Fire Station 1937 – 1975 Harry retired in 1965 but was asked immediately to stay on as a civilian. He was renowned throughout Leeds for being an excellent engineer and mechanic so much so that the owner of the jewellers Fattorni asked him to maintain his fleet of Jaguars and a perk was given one of his own. For it’s time this would’ve have been a highly unusual sight
The night the new three tier Denis Turntable Ladder arrived, Harry was called out of his bed and attended a fire in on Rossington Street at Leeds City Centre in his pyjamas.
The apply named Hields workshop with the pit and the mechanics workshop. Now coverted to Space2’s new offices.
