I first visited the Soviet Union in 1974, having studied Russian at school (with Martin Sixsmith). I lived and worked in Moscow from 1994-2001.

The banner is a genuine Soviet era marking banner and the samovar is an old heirloom.

Cup and saucer are from the Imperial Romanov porcelain factory in St.Petersburg.
