The Seaweed Album
“This album was passed down in the family since the 1850s until it came to my mum. It was created by Captain Henry Musgrove, a distant relative of her. As he was a great traveller around the world it was believed that he created this collection of seaweed on his travels, but my mum started researching the album 10 years ago and discovered they are in fact all from the Whitehaven area of Cumbria where my family live in. This is not the original album but was re-mounted in the 1930s, including his own poems in the front. My mum got so interested in the album that she began to research into seaweed, the history of their collection and the album’s story and wrote a novel about it!”
